The Romper/Jumpsuit - Wardrobe Staple - McCalls 6083

I am a big fan of jumpsuits.  Always have been from a little girl.  I remember my Grandmother make my sisters and I yellow jumpsuit with white ruffles around the top and bottom.  Every girl in school wanted one of our jumpsuits (I know it sounds hideous), but it was really cute.  She would always make us rompers for the summer too, in so many different colors.  Well as I got older and my body changed so did my love for jumpsuits and rompers.  But since I have taken a step toward healthier living, my body has become a just a tad bit more jumpsuit friendly.

Butterick 5562 - Yeah No Bathroom Selfie

So finally I got a picture of myself wearing something I made.  I didn't have to run to the ladies room.  I love it.

Good Morning and Happy Hump Day! - Butterick 5562

I'm starting to feel like the old me again.  I go straight home after my workouts, make sure my family is fed and my home duties are performed and straight to my sewing room.  I have my mojo back, so while I am on this sewing rampage, I decided to pull out one of my Out of Print Patterns I have been wanting to make for a awhile.

The fabric is from Fabricmart and its a textured double knit.  It has a great bit of stretch so I contoured it a little to give it more of a fitted look.  I think I cut the medium.

A New Me in Progress!

This past weekend, we lay to rest my first cousin Randy.   It has been some years since I had seen him.  Though we were close growing up, with the death of grandparents, divorces and growing up and discovering our lives we lost contact.   He was only 4 years older than me, so at 50 he has gone on to his final resting place.  He left this earth because of poor health.  He had a massive heart attack while walking from a corner store.   He was also diabetic who had already loss 2 fingers. 

When I got the news, I was really upset, because as some of you know, I have been helping my Sister who at 41 years old is a brittle diabetic on an insulin pump, has a weak heart with an implanted defibrillator and pacemaker.  She also suffers from gout, neuropathy, sleep apnea, and myriad of ailments.  I am constantly talking and fussing with her about her eating habits, her weight and her refusal to take her condition serious. 

My families on both sides have a history of heart decease and diabetes.   So I have been working on me for quite some time now.  I started exercising and working with a Personal Trainer last August.  I have seen some results though I could be working harder and doing more.  

With all this being said. I just wan the world to know that I am changing, I am living a better, healthier life.

M6841 - Proof I do Wear What I Make!

Its usually weeks after I make a garment that I actually wear it.  I don't have a camera man on hand most times either, so I never really get quality shots of myself.  So of course we get a nice bathroom shot.

I am so in love with this blouse that I knew I wanted to wear it immediately.  I still have to hem the red pants that I made to accompany my blouse, but I will get to them hopefully by the weekend.

Wardrobe Busting/Creating - Work Wear March

I am a very impulsive person, and when I make up my mind to do something, I usually go all in.  Really I mean to the point, I am scratching my head thinking what have I done.  After standing in my closet last week way too long looking for something to wear to work, I decided I need to revamp my wardrobe.  

Well this weekend I did just that, in one of my impulsive moments I decided to clean out my closet and get rid of anything I haven't touched in the past year.  I just started loading garbage bags with clothing, not really even paying attention to what I shoved in the bag.  I will donate these items to the Women's Shelter very soon. 

I did have some exceptions though.  A lot of my clothing is what I call forever wear.  Those are the items that will always be in style and classic (in my eyes anyway).  I do not prescribe to a certain type of style I am just simply me doing what I like.

I have known for awhile that I needed to work on my work wardrobe, because I wear the same items pretty much in my rotation.  I always knew this would be a great way for me to get busy and push myself to sew more.  

So, with all that being said, I decided to make March my Work Wear Month.  Where I will create items I can wear to work and maybe even transition into casual.  I work in a law office in a very large Bank Building.  I like to look classy but I want to be comfortable as well.  Spending more than half of your day in an office building, yes I have to be comfortable. 

So this weekend, I started with my first wardrobe addition:

The pants are New Look 6191 which are the same pattern I used for my camouflage pants.   I used a linen/cotton blend.  The fit is not as good as with the camo pants but I do like them.  I think I may tweak them a little to get the fit I want.  

The top is McCalls 6841.  Now I am very pleased with with how it came out, and I can see a few more in my immediate future.  The fabric is from FabricMart.com and its a light silky jersey knit, that flows very well.

Dorothy from The Whiz - Costume

Today I was contracted to make a Dorothy from the Whiz costume.

New Look - A6191 - Camo Palazzo Pants

I cut these pants and sewed them up a few weeks ago before my vacation.  I am just now having an opportunity to complete them.  They fabric is from Joann's, its a cotton with fool backing.  It also has a a gold shimmer that doesn't really show in these pics.  The fit is a little snug, but I like them and they way fit.

Serial Vacationer - I Love to Travel!

I could literally be a serial vacationer.  I love to travel and see new things and experience new adventures. Our Annual Ski Trip to Gatlinburg, TN, was yet again a great quickie trip for my hubby and I.  We enjoy getting together with family friends in a beautiful cabin with lots of food, spirits, board games, and laughter.

We actually took ski lessons this time and learned how to stop on the slopes (bunny slopes that is).  Our way of stopping in the past was to just fall down.  Yes, I know it sounds dangerous but on the bunny/kiddie slopes we make sure we are very close to the ground when we go down.  We are not interested at all in going up a mountain on a lift and skiing down it.  We love to play in the snow though being Floridians and all, so we enjoy romping for a few hours in the snow and taking our photo ops.
