Preparing for This Weeks Sewing!

This weeks sewing projects:

a)  M6700 - maxi
b) S1638 - dorman sleeve top
c)  S1738 - knit jacket

Planning out my soon to be awesome wardrobe!  Happy creating!

Another Top, Simplicity 1920 View "A".

This top was not on my list, but I needed a quickie project for this evening. This quickie top gave me the little fix I needed to accomplish something, anything.  It actually came out lovely for something i really didn't plan or had no intentions on making today!

I'm trying to think about what I want and need before just making items I end up shoving in the back of my closet.  My plan is to have a functional wardrobe.

First Completed Project - Sew Your Own Wardrobe Challenge

I'm loving the color, I'm loving the fit, and I am loving the fabric, my beloved Ponte Knit.  Its not the Ponte Roma Knit I usually purchase, its a Ponte Knit non the less.  It really hugs the body.

Without further ado, here she is, NL6150 in all her splendor:

I'm thinking a pair of navy blue pants (on the cutting block as I type), and some bone open two wedges (which I own), will make a grand ensemble.

The Ups and Downs of Life and Sew A Longs!

I was so excited about the 2013 Essential Tops SAL.  I had a plan, I had my fabric, and I knew exactly what I wanted to make.  I have been dreaming of updating and adding to my work wardrobe, as I feel I wear the same items over and over.  There is no good reason for this but laziness actually.

But life has its ups and downs, and doesn't always play nice.  Any way, my younger sister is dealing with heart failure.   She is in the early stages of a heart transplant.  She is 39 years old and a mother of an eight year old, my nephew, Jordan Ryan, who happens to be the love of my life.    Her husband drives buses cross country, so he's often on the road.  So, my older sister, my mother and I have taken on the tasks to help her out.

This past Monday I took her to her an appointment at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL.  Its a specialty hospital for heart and lung issues.  The hospital is about 2 hours away from Orlando where we live.   She had to meet with her team of transplant specialists.   So, with that being said, my sewing has been far and few between.  I am going to try to go into my sewing cave this weekend and do some much needed catching up.

Here is what I've been able to get done for the 2013 Essential Tops SAL:

2013 Tessuti Gridlock Sewing Competition/Pinterest - COOL!

Now this is cool:  2013 Tessuti Gridlock Sewing Competition. I was perusing Pinterest last night and came across this competition.  It was really cool to see all the different creations made from one fabric design in different shades.  I was amazed because I wouldn't have thought of some of the designs that were made.  Here is the fabric for the competition:

Isn't it a gorgeos fabric.  Just thought I'd share.  I love the Tessuti Blog and peruse it at least daily.  Check it out when you have some time.

Happy Creating.
